What we do

Supporting children with cerebral palsy and other motor learning difficulties

Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Charity has provided help to over 600 families from West and East Sussex, Surrey, Kent, Berkshire and Greater London with very young children with cerebral palsy and other motor learning difficulties.  Our service has enabled these parents to see the potential that their child has and also helping them to engage with and actively play with their child.  Our innovative and essential early intervention service has followed the principles of Conductive Education and Early Years Foundation Stage.  It has been delivered in partnership with parents to educate and help their child to develop physically, socially and emotionally, forming the bedrock of the independence they can achieve later in life.

Please read some of our families’ stories to truly understand the difference this approach has made for their children. It is life changing.

We have now moved to our new location in Cuckfield, West Sussex and opened the Dame Vera Lynn Children’s Centre in order to enable many more children and families to benefit in the future and to recognise our compassionate and vibrant President, Dame Vera Lynn who will be 100 years of age in March 2017.  The new centre will offer families an early intervention service based upon the principles of Conductive Education as well as additional services to reflect families’ needs now.  These will initially include holiday and Saturday clubs, an outreach support service to help families in their own homes and a parent support network.  Families will have access to the most recent assistive interactive technology such as whiteboards, switches, tablets and magic carpets. Some services will be chargeable, and all will be shaped by working in partnership with our families.

We will be offering sessions from Monday 13th February running Monday 9.30am to 12 noon and 1.00pm to 3.30pm and Friday 9.30am to 12 noon.   To register your interest and for further details please contact us on 01403 780444 or email:  info@dvlcc.org.uk
