Looking for Your Next Adventure?
Challenge Events are some of the most rewarding ways to fundraise, allowing challengers to not only support and raise awareness for Dame Vera Lynn’s Children Charity, but to also experience a once in a lifetime adventure. Memorable, great fun and a huge achievement for those who take part, challengers not only learn, explore, grow and discover new places, but can also make an enormous impact on our Charity both by supporting the work we do, but also, by inspiring others.
We’ve put together a selection of options below, with ideas and suggestions of different challenges to take part in, but this list is by no means exhaustive! There are so many options out there, we couldn’t possibly list them all, but no matter the challenge and no matter your experience, we can help you find the challenge you are looking for. If you are considering taking up a challenge then please contact our Challenge Events Manager Nikki Cannon on 01403 780444 or email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
We would love to hear from you!
Marathons are considered some of the ultimate challenges for runners, but whether you are looking for your next big marathon, or just starting out, there is a huge range to choose from for all abilities. Distances, terrains and tracks vary, and with the selection of running clubs and groups that are available, you can test routes and train for any challenge you choose.
Depending on your running experience you can choose from various distances and with help from the fundraising team as well as a few training tips along the way, you’ll be able to prepare for your challenges with great support.
Cycle Challenges can afford some of the most beautiful countryside routes that Sussex (and beyond!) has to offer and for those who enjoy a touch of adrenaline, this can be a great alternative for those who are looking for something different.
Terrain varies from course to course and routes can be comprised entirely of road, cross country or both, and also offer a selection of flat or hilly tracks. Whether you are an experienced cyclist or a novice there will be a challenge to suit your ability and distance.
Hiking and Walking
Walking Challenges are some of the best type of challenges to start with, not to mention ideal for those who want to take their challenge abroad, or simply make it a more social event. Walking is accessible, requires minimal equipment and can also be a great way to build up stamina and begin training.
Hiking Challenges require a little more training and can be more physically demanding for participants, especially when taking on challenges that include higher altitudes, but with the correct preparation, hiking and trekking can be extremely rewarding.
Adventure Challenges offer that little extra for those looking for a slightly different type of challenge, or for those who would like to take their challenges abroad.
Ranging from white water rafting, mountain climbing to husky rides, these challenges allow participants to take their journeys that one step further. If you would like to try something completely new, there are a whole range of adventure challenges to choose from and you can really make these all your own, the only limit is your own imagination.
